I was 39 before I started running, working in an office piling on the weight with no interest in sport what so ever. I could no longer convince myself I was a size 14 and I decided to do something about it.

So not having run since I left school I thought I would start of small and sign up for a half marathon (not one of my best ideas at the time I can tell you).  I downloaded a plan of the internet joined a gym and this is where my journey began.

In April 2014 I ran / shuffled Ironbridge half and I hated it and never ran again for 12 months after. Then my daughter convinced me to join park run. It was not long after I started park run that I joined LRC. The best decision I made was joining a club. I began to improve on my running times and enjoyed being part of a social club.  I have made lots of new friends and enjoyed running many races.

Having done many 5k, 10k, half marathons and a metric, am yet still to attempt a marathon. I don’t have a preferred distance but I do enjoy running for medals and cake. Can’t say I have a favourite race but I do enjoy the support given from LRC members when running any race.
