January 2018 was when I decided I needed to do something for me. After 6 years of running my son to Shrewsbury, 4 times a week, also around the country as well as travelling overseas with team GB for his Kickboxing he decided he no longer wanted to compete anymore. I didn’t want to be stuck at home on the sofa watching TV.

I saw an advert for a C25k group at Lawley Running Club bonus in walking distance too. Booked a place and waited for the start date. Told quite a few people who actually laughed at me and said I wouldn’t be able to do it that made me more determined to prove them wrong.

I graduated from Couch in March 2018 (3 stone lighter) running 5K non stop, which was something I never thought I would ever be able to do on that cold day in January.I ran my first half marathon, Shrewsbury in June 18, which I really enjoyed. Running has made me better person both mentally and physically. I had brilliant run leaders on couch who I aspired to. I’m proud to be able to call them my friends, I’ve actually made lots of new friends by doing something I love.

28th April 2019 I ran my first marathon. 26.2 miles of London, running with my best friend, my sister Deborah. When I look back, my own journey has been massive, but couldn’t have done it without the help of Lawley Running Club.
