LRC-events-Shifnal-Half-Marathon-Route

The Route

The race will be based at Idsall School/Sports Centre which has ample facilities of car parking, changing rooms and toilets.  Competitors will take a short ‘warm-up’ jog/walk to the centre of Shifnal where the race will assemble in a large car park.

The course is multi-terrain with the majority on quiet public roads, with three sections of approximately a mile along bridleways and footpaths.  The start near Shifnal Church first goes through a housing estate before heading south into surrounding countryside.  After two miles the route turns onto a farm track leading to a footpath up to Ryton Church at four miles.  After a slight detour along roads the race arrives at Beckbury Church at six miles.  At just after seven miles the route goes off-road again crossing the small River Worfe using a footbridge (or a ford if prefered!).  At around eight miles is back on a quiet country road to Kemberton Church just after nine miles.  At approximately 10.5 miles the route follows a footpath to mile twelve where Shifnal Church comes into sight again. The last mile is through the town and on to the finish at Idsall Sports Centre.
